Pressing Pigments

I made a purchase from Coastalscents a week ago and got my empty palette, since I bought some mineral eyeshadows from Simply Naturals, and Pure Luxe Minerals, and wanted to press them to see how it would turns out. I was kinda iffy on buying their EZ Mixing Medium since i heard that the package gets ruin when it delivers to you. So i didnt buy that, to save some money, i went out and bought Glycerin to make my own mixing medium. But let me tell yah...it doesnt work when I press it my minerals eyeshadows!!! =[

I was so dissappointed.. i donno why when i try to to stir it with the minerals, the homemade mixing medium has a bubble and won't mix together with the minerals. I was so frustrated and the minerals poofs everywhere! Very very messy i tell you!

So yeah, I guess i will be buying the mixing medium at Mac then! Anywho, i have one Mac pigment and wanted to try pressing it using just alcohol. And it turn out perfectly! =]

what you need
  • paint palette ( i got it from Michaels $0.69)
  • mixing spatula (i got it from Michaels $0.79)
  • alcohol
  • Mac pigment
  • a quarter
  • peice of old cloth

My Coastalscents empty palette

My Mac pigment in WHITE ( good highlight color)

Mix, mix, mix

Mix it till it has a pasty consistency

Wait for around 15 mins for it to dry

after you wait for it to dry, put the cloth over the quarter and press!
TA-DA!! All done!

FOTD: Wing Eye look

Hey gals, so tonight i got bored and wanted to create a look, I love wing eye style makeup! Since they remind me of the old Hollywood retro look. I know this style is old but i cant resist! At first, doing the wing eye look was hard for me, because i never really actually know how to do it, then i watch tutorials on Youtube, there are many ways that people do, like putting the tape on the side, or draw a thin line up using an eyeliner and sorts, which are all very creative and great. But i try it the fresh way, no tape or liner needed. I just DO it! LOL
Anywho, this is how it turns out! I think i might do this look for CINTHIA's Pin-up girl contest! I am really excitied about it! hehe

dont mind me wearing my PJs hehe

Mavala Eye lengthener

Hey girls! Remember a while back ago i purchase the eye lengthener call Mavala? Well i tested it out and you be the judge! For me, it did not worked. =[ I used it for about a month, i put it on my lashes every night, upper and bottom lashes. But the results came out the same as my lashes were before. =[ So pretty much i am very dissappointed. I heard good reviews on them but somehow it did not work for me. Now i am trying to use Revital lash to see how it looks since my sis's lashes did look a lil bit fuller. So i will be doing an update on Revital Lash next month! Hopefully it doesnt dissappoint me like Mavala did!

How to look best in pictures!!!!

Hey girls! As you know, besides makeup and beauty, i am also interested in Photography. In the future, my dream is to have my own photo studio, and be the best known photographer! Hehe. Anyways, my sis gave me an idea on what to write on my blog, since i am still new at this. So she email me on "how to look best when taking a picture". I thought it is a very interesting topic and would like to share with everyone!

Thanks sis for the advice!

HOW TO LOOK YOUR BEST ON PICTURES
  1. Find your face’s best angle. You might not notice it, but your face does appear different at different angles. Suggestion: take several pictures of different angles (left, middle, right) of your face, compare & decide which angel is best. Your face usually appears smaller at side view, so avoid looking straight at the camera.
  2. Smile naturally. When the photographer counts from 1-3 , don’t smile early, start to smile on count 3, your smile will look really fresh & natural!
  3. Never slouch! Always keep your back straight, chest out, and shoulder back, it will create a nice confidence pose.
  4. Hand on your Hip! Never put your arm down, always remember to put it on your hip, your arm will appear skinnier on pictures!
  5. Don’t face body directly at the camera. Always make sure that your body is at about 45 degree angle of the camera, your body will appear skinnier, and your nice body curves are more noticeable!

Making your own Mixing Medium

Hey everyone! Since I'd just recently got my minerals from Pure Luxe and Simply naturals, i really want to try to pressed them, but somehow i heard that you cant pressed them using 90% alcohol. It just won't work. So i went on youtube to search on how to make homemade mixing medium. Mixing Medium is a type of liquid that let your E/S look more vibrant. Minerals can also be pressed using mixing medium too.

I went to Walmart and bought Glycerin to make my homemade mixing medium. Its really easy and everyone can do it! ENKORE has a tutorial on how to make them, so you guys can check him out! All you need is; Glycerin, purified water, and a empty jar.

REMEMBER: 1 part of Glycerin and 3 parts of water.

GLYCERIN IS IN THE BANDAID SECTION AT WALMART, I AM PRETTY SURE THEY HAVE IT AT CVS OR RITE AID.

1. POUR THE GLYCERIN IN THE CAP OF THE BOTTLE (full cap)

2. THEN POUR IT IN THE EMPTY BOTTLE

3. ADD 3 CAPS OF WATER IN THE BOTTLE (full cap)

4. AFTER YOU DONE POURING 3 PARTS OF WATER, CLOSE THE CAP AND SHAKE THE BOTTLE, AND TA-DA! YOUR VERY OWN HOMEMADE MIXING MEDIUM!

5. THEN DIP YOUR EYELINER BRUSH IN THE LIQUID, AND MIX IT IN YOUR EYELINER
(I AM USING MY JW GEL LINER)

6. THIS IS THE RESULT WITH THE MIXING MEDIUM

7. BEFORE W/OUT THE MIXING MEDIUM, SEE HOW LIGHTER IT IS?

Pureluxe and Simply Naturals minerals

I've been shopping for minerals eyeshadows and find them pretty interesting. At first i thought of them as very sheer and arent as pigmented as they should be. Mac pigments are pretty good but of course some of us cant afford that much of a high end cosmetics. BUTTTTT i found these 2 websites that sell pretty good mineral pigments for eyeshadows with such an afforable price! they are called PURELUXE and SIMPLY NATURALS minerals. The colors are really pigmented and you guys should totally try it out!

I did purchase Simply naturals eyeshadows minerals and they are super duper great! The color are very pigmented and you can check out Christiana's Blog for her swatches. I dont have any swatches pictures right now becuz i am still waiting for my Pureluxe minerals to come home so i can do both of them at the same time.

I heard that pressing minerals with 90% alcohol is not a good thing to do, so its best if you guys buy the Mixing Medium and try pressing them from that. I will soon later trying to press my minerals too since loose minerals are kinda messy for me!

Here are 2 Videos on youtube that i found regarding Pressing Minerals and PURELUXE minerals swatches! Credits to Coastals Scents and Debstan1 for posting them up!
